Juck Juck Grunzie is a psychedelic noise-rock band from Seoul, South Korea. It is a marriage of irregular rhythms and chaotic sounds in a post Mondays/Baggy kind of vibe. A druggy mélange of twisted melody that works to create something dark, mysterious, and hauntingly beautiful.

This month, they will tour in Europe for the first time which includes a stop at the Glastonbury Festival, and also a London show at the Brixton Windmill on the 30th June. Artrocker will be there for sure, but in the meantime to keep us hot we have whizzed them over the five questions and included a great little intro film below. Check it out!

We are .. A psychedelic noise rock band from Seoul, South Korea. Juck Juck Grunzie was originally formed as an all-gal group, and a few years back MTV Iggy described us as “bitches in fishnet and leather jackets.” We’ve got a male drummer now named Kyunghyun, but he loves being called a bitch and is cool with the idea of wearing fishnets live so I guess that description still works!

We sound like .. A sad clown stuck in between a beautiful hallucination and a nightmare.

The funny thing about us .. Because our music is loud, dark, and kind of experimental some people think that we’re tough or scary people. But we’re not at all. In fact, one of our favourite pastimes is to sit around and watch Korean dramas while eating snacks and crying.

When we play live we like to .. do Taekwondo inspired dance moves. They’re easy to learn, come catch us live and we’ll teach you how to do them!

Our best song is .. Well, lots of people like our song “Psycho” best. It’s the title track on our 2013 full-length debut. The song was inspired by something that happened to our guitarist Jeehye’s mom. She once blacked out after accidentally inhaling carbon monoxide fumes from burning coal briquette, a traditional method for warming homes in Korea. She heard someone whispering “psycho, psycho” in her ear and that’s what made her wake up.
