Artrocker Latest:

Singles: January 2015

Lapsley, King TV, Fat White Family, Wray and Zola Blood

Happy New Year. Here’s the first look at some of the best new singles coming out in January 2015…

Lapsley_UnderstudyLapsley – Falling Short
XL Records
Taken from the Understudy EP out 5th January, we first heard this beautiful chilled out track from XL’s latest signing late last year. Labelling as the female James Blake will be coming thick and fast but, whatever, this is a perfect track to start the year and Lapsley is one of the ones to watch in 2015.

KingTV-PlayOnForeverKing TV – Don’t Wanna Go Home
Two Piece Records
Signed to London based Two Piece Records, King TV’s 90’s American slacker rock is a mix of Weezer and Dinosaur JR. ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ is taken from the bands forthcoming EP, Play on Forever.

FatWhiteFamily_MarkESmith

Fat White Family – I am Mark E Smith
Without Consent
The Fat White’s have been making their mark on 2014 with their incredible live shows. This latest offering is a somewhat strange ode to The Fall’s, Mark E Smith. What isn’t strange is its brilliance. Slow hand claps and off kilter psyched out guitars is the 3am comedown we’ve come to expect from FWF. Watch the video until the end to see ‘Mark E Smith’ make an appearance.

Wray_BadHeartWRAY – Bad Heart
Communicating Vessels
The Alabama band take a road trip with a twist in the video for their new single, taken from their forthcoming debut self-titled album, out in January. ‘Bad Heart’ is a mix of shoegaze pop, chugging A Place to Bury Strangers and krautrock. Lovely stuff.

ZolaBlood_Meridian

Zola Blood – Meridian
Pond Life
Developed over a year in a windowless Hackney Wick studio, Zola Blood’s sound is minimal and textured, with intricate arrangements and meticulous attention to detail.
